Case Study: Genre Mapping

Music being a large part of my influence for all things creative, and my love of London combined in this mapping project, intended to introduce people to new music that they would not have otherwise found and to also show that all genres of music link together with one another, and in turn showing that everyone on the planet shares something in common with one another.

The map works just like the underground tube map, which it takes a large influence from due to its excellent design that organises what would otherwise be complete chaos. The lines are slightly more free flowing to fit in more so with its subject matter.

The piece is typeset in Gill Sans to further its similarities with the London Underground's branding, as well as using the same colour ways as the original.

The project was featured in the Lexicon Show in Brick Lane, 2009.
